Undead Undead
Between this and "The Lost Weekend", Welcome to the Basement has invaded the vernacular of my household irrevocably. So it only stands to reason that we drink to our health, and the health/death of the Undead Bela Lugosi.
There's a tropical drink named "Van Helsing" that I based this cocktail recipe on, since we've got the undead theme going on. But you have to serve it in a full pineapple and I ain't got that kind of crazy money to throw around. Plus, we're dealing with a dead man here. Got to get that spirit to where it needs to go. And how to do you get restless spirits out? Burning sage. I don't have experience in this area, and I'm writing this instead of teaching my Geometry class what special right triangles are, so I'm going to stick to sage.
So here's to you, my fellow basement dwellers. May your bodies be free of wandering spirits and may your tummies be worthy of a Dead Man's Party.
The Undead Bela Lugosi
Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 parts pineapple juice
1 part tequila
1 part raspberry vodka
Juice of two lime wedges
2 medium slices of cucumber
1 sage leaf
Instructions:
1. Shake together the pineapple juice, tequila, raspberry vodka, and ice in a shaker. You want this drink to be cold! Like a dead person!
2. Smoosh (or muddle, if you prefer the technical term) together a slice of cucumber and the sage leaf in the bottom of your serving glass. I could specify a martini glass, but let's be honest- we all just use whatever's clean.
3. Pour your deadly concoction on top of your healthy muddled bits, and serve with a cucumber wedge on the rim.
